The IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a two-year high school program recognized worldwide. It’s designed to challenge you academically and help you grow as a person. You’ll take six subjects, write a research essay (called the EE), think about how we gain knowledge in Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and take part in activities through CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service). It’s a well-rounded program that sets you up for success in the future.
PreDP (meaning pre-diploma programme) is a preparatory year where you study 900p within the Swedish curriculum, with all subjects taught in English. PreDP is designed to prepare you for success in the IB Diploma programme which starts in year 2 and finishes in year 3.
IB graduates go into all kinds of fields—medicine, law, engineering, business, arts, science, you name it. After the IB, most students head straight to university, but some also take gap years to travel or work. The program opens a lot of doors because it’s so widely recognized.
The IB prepares you well for university. It’s recognized globally, so if you want to study or work abroad, it’s a great choice. You’ll also develop skills like critical thinking, time management, and research, which are super useful no matter what you do after school. Plus, you’ll learn to handle a variety of challenges both academically and personally, which makes you stand out.
The IB promotes international-mindedness, and a global mindset and CAS gives you the chance to take part in international projects abroad. You can also transfer from one IB school to another if you move to a different country. However, there’s no official IB exchange program for studying abroad like some other schools offer.
There are many reasons!

Our Self- taught languages – if you have a best language (mother tongue), for example, Arabic, Ukrainian, German…you can continue to study this on your diploma programme!
Our inclusive, dynamic and friendly atmosphere! We are a small school but our students and teachers come from all over the world. Together, we make NTI Skövde a truly international “World School”!

It differs in several ways:
There are lots of advantages! The IB Diploma is globally recognized as an education of world class quality and is therefore recognized and acclaimed by universities worldwide. Furthermore, on the IB Diploma programme, you will learn all of your subjects in English and will therefore be well prepared to continue your studies abroad.
Yes and no! All IB Diploma programme schools will offer the same structure of 6 subject groups and the Core subjects of TOK (Theory of Knowledge), CAS (Creativity, Activity & Service) and the EE (Extended Essay). But schools offer different subjects within each subject group. For example, in subject group 3, the human sciences, some schools may offer psychology & business management whereas another school may offer history & economics…
The IB Diploma Programme offers six subject groups from which to choose six diploma subjects that match your interests and academic goals. As a student, you are required to take one subject from each subject group, although there are other possible combinations here, and you can study subjects at either Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL). You are required to study at least three subjects at HL.
Anyone moving on from lower secondary school can apply! Just follow the normal routine of upper secondary school application and once we have received your application, we will invite you to one of our Admission’s Days. As an international educational program, we welcome applicants both from Sweden and abroad who may have a diversity of language, cultural and school backgrounds.
Yes, we have our own entrance process to ensure the program is the right fit for you. This includes:
This process helps us get to know you better and for you to understand our program better, and ensures you’re well-prepared for the challenges of the IB!
Each diploma subject is taught at either Higher Level (HL) or Standard Level (SL). Standard Level has 150 teaching hours whereas Higher level has a total of 240 teaching hours and which means that you study these subjects in more depth.
Absolutely! We offer plenty of fun and engaging activities. For example, The School Halloween Event which is creatively organized and planned by IB1 students. IB CAS Hike which is arranged by IB2 students, this combines adventure, collaboration and fun. Every Wednesday evening, we host a Creative Workshop where you can play board games, explore arts and crafts, or try out any creative activity. It’s the perfect space to relax, socialize, and express yourself.
No matter which 6 subjects you choose to study from the 6 subject groups, everyone in the IB studies the Core subjects of TOK (Theory of Knowledge), CAS (Creativity, Activity & Service) and the EE (Extended Essay).
Yes! Universities love IB students because they know you’ve worked hard and developed solid skills.
Yes, absolutely! We’re here to support you. For those who need it, we offer extra help in maths and English to ensure you stay on track. Additionally, teachers are always available to provide guidance. Don’t hesitate to ask if you’re struggling—we’ve got your back!
Of course! If you put in the effort, do your homework, and ask questions when you’re stuck, you’ll be okay. The IB is challenging, but it’s designed to be achievable with the right attitude and support.
It’s definitely a demanding program, but it’s manageable if you stay organized and keep up with your work. Balancing six subjects, CAS, TOK, and the EE can feel like a lot, but if you plan your time well, you’ll be fine. And don’t forget, there’s always help if you need it!
There’s a mix of exams, essays, and projects:
You’ll pick one subject from each of six groups (like science, language, and human sciences), but you have a lot of options within those groups. You can also choose some subjects at a higher level (HL) and some at a standard level (SL), depending on what you’re most interested in.
As part of your journey, it’s important to familiarize yourself with our IB-programme policies at NTI Gymnasiet Skövde.
